We keep receiving a number of messages from visitors asking for
more details on the spicier sides of Rio's gay life. Many
guys asked us about gay baths , adult movie theaters and sex hotels.
Since we are here to please, we did a little homework. We have
found a number of hot addresses and phones, now neatly arranged
for you on this page.
Let's say you feel like wasting away those unwanted calories
you earned at lunch. Blame it on the caipirinhas, an irresistible
local drink (as if). Anyway, if you are looking for hot steam, we
have good news for you. There are plenty of gay baths in Rio, and
membership is not required. Facilities usually include a sauna and
steam room, showers, TV room, bar, lounge, and sometimes private
booths or a dark room. You may also find a (very basic) workout station. Most
baths keep a staff of manicurists, pedicurists and certified
masseurs. (Read more)
Facilities and etiquette rules vary. Give yourself a few
minutes to feel the atmosphere. Call for hours, prices and
details. We are not here to set behavior standards, but keep in
mind that AIDS is as much of a problem in Brazil as elsewhere in
the world. Be safe.
The concentration of gay baths in Ipanema and Copacabana are quite high. In Ipanema Termas Leblon tends to attract a more mature patrons, including some bears. Studio 64 and RioG Spa are popular with younger, more fit crowd. Some gay baths rent private suites. Read our section on safety tips, and keep in mind that you do not want to take strangers you have just met back to your hotel room.
